I had the pleasure of enjoying two of my favorite things—pizza and cats—at the first pizza party for the Crime Cats Mystery Club at Cat Welfare. I got to meet the readers are their families and learn about how the program is helping area kids improve their reading skills while helping the residents of Cat Welfare's shy cat room get adopted. So far, the program is a meowing success! I had the kids fill out their the Crime Cats Detective Application from Heavy Metal Pizza Party while we all enjoyedpizza from Marco's Pizza of Clintonville, then the readers who had completed five sessions got to pick a prize. Kitten Duct Tape was super-popular.
Big shout out to Laurel, the volunteer coordinator at Cat Welfare who wore an amazing "space cats" shirt, and the two Lisas for putting together an amazing event! I'm so proud to be partnered with Cat Welfare and so proud of the great work that is being done by everyone—Cat Welfare, the volunteers, and the kids!
